Enugu sports commissioner gifts Rangers players salary after Akwa Utd win

The Enugu state sports commissioner, Honorable Manfred Nzekwe has showered the players and officials of seven-time Nigeria league champions, Rangers International F.C after defeating defending champions, Akwa United 3-0 inside the ‘Nest of Champions’, Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

According to a statement signed by the clubs’ Media/Communication Officer, Norbert Okolie, the commissioner made good the promise of his monthly take-home pay to the team if they defeat the ‘Promise Keepers’.

It was learnt that the commissioner deposited the undisclosed amount in the bank account of the captain of the ‘Flying Antelopes’, Tope Olusesi.

This followed the dinner party organized for the team after the win by the administrative secretary of the club, Barrister Ferdinand Ugwuarua.

Barrister Ugwuarua said at the event, “I am very glad about this once-in-a-lifetime birthday present. I give God all the glory for this wonderful victory in Uyo which I take as a perfect birthday present from the team.

“They promised before the match and delivered on their promises so, I decided to give this little as an appreciation for this birthday present,” he said.

The former team manager of the side, Barrister Amobi Ezeaku had also redeemed his promise to the team before they left Enugu for Uyo as he has remitted the sum promised to the captain’s account as well.
