Youths dunk for honours at Abuja basketball clinic

It was an electrifying moment at the MKO Abiola National Stadium’s Package B when Abuja youths gathered to compete for greatness in the City center sport and skill festival 2022 basketball tournament.

Senator Philip Aduda, the tournament’s sponsor, who was present at the event and was represented by Senior Assistant on Special Duty Mr. Danjuma Samuel Sakolo, stated that the program’s goal was to positively engage youngsters.

“For example, if you check in some places where the youth are not busy, they are engaged in a lot of illegal activities and criminality, that is why we want to engage them in different activities like football, basketball, music, among others.

“We are encouraging them not to forget their education, that is why are engaging the organizers of these activities, we want to key into the activities so that we can promote, especially those talents that have been discovered, and see how they can progress and excel in life.”

On his own, the project coordinator of City center sport and skill festival 2022 basketball tournament, Ernest Idahosa said, the competition is part of a series of activities that has been going on for two weeks in FCT.

“We are not here alone. In fact, we have partnered organization, others, so, most of the talents here will have the opportunity to further their career,” he said.

At the end of the clinic, Area 1’s Hard Rockers emerged tops as Karu’s Titians Basketball Academy came second while TNT Panters finished third.
