AFCON: Venezia to fly Ebuehi directly to Cameroon

Venezia right back, Tryone Ebuehi will not be in the Super Eagles camp in Nigeria who will be departing the country on Wednesday to Cameroon.

According to the interim coach, Austin Eguavoen, Ebuehi has a game tomorrow and the club has agreed to fly him from Italy to Cameroon on January 6th and join his teammates in Garoua ahead of the first game against Egypt.

Ebuehi, who was initially not in the 28-man list for the tournament was drafted in by interim coach Austin Eguavoen after injury to Cyprus-based defender Shehu Abdulahi.

Ebuehi has made 14 appearances since he joined Venezia on a season-long loan deal from Benfica this season.

Meanwhile, Eguavoen will today expect that all the invited UK-based Super Eagles stars in camp today as he has only been able to train with 14 players out of 28 invited.

Those being eagerly expected include Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho (Leicester City), Alex Iwobi (Everton), Semi Ajayi (West Brom), William Troost-Ekong (Watford), Frank Onyeka (Brentford), and Joe Aribo (Glasgow Rangers).

The arrival of the UK-based players will see the camp come alive as coach Austin Eguavoen continues to give instructions to the players on his winning strategy.

The other players expected are Kenneth Omeruo (CD Leganes, Spain), Jamilu Collins (SC Padeborn 07, Germany); Tyrone Ebuehi (Venezia FC, Italy); Kelechi Nwakali (SD Huesca, Spain), Samuel Chukwueze (Villarreal FC, Spain), Olaoluwa Aina (Torino FC, Italy) and Odion Jude Ighalo (Al-Shabab Riyadh, Saudi Arabia).
