The names of the countries that have sought to host the Euro 2028 and Euro 2032 tournaments were released on Wednesday by the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
According to UEFA, Turkiye will compete with a joint candidacy from England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland to host Euro 2028, while Turkey is also a candidate to host Euro 2032. Italy is the sole bidder for the tournament’s hosting rights in 2032.
In October, the UEFA will vote on who will host both editions.
The next edition (Euro 2024) will be staged in Germany, reverting the tournament to a single-host nation structure after a cross-country system in Euro 2020.
Italy, the reigning European champions, is seeking to host the Euro for the third time after 1968 and 1980, in addition to 4 matches during Euro 2020, England organized Euro 1996 and some Euro 2020 matches, while Turkiye had not had the honour of hosting the tournament before.
