Tottenham push for Conte as Mourinho’s replacement

Tottenham are pursuing a move for recently departed Inter Milan boss Antonio Conte.

The Italian departed the Milan giants days after they won the Serie A title due to the unresolved transfer policies from the board.

Spurs have still not decided on their ideal manager to replace Jose Mourinho. According to The Guardian, the Italian does retain an interest in the Spurs job.

Conte enjoyed his time at Stamford Bridge with Chelsea and would love to return to the Premier League, while he also gave an assessment of Tottenham’s current squad and what would be required to strengthen it.

For now, Spurs and Conte have agreed to pause talks until his position at Inter is clearer, but the discussions were described as ‘fruitful and interesting’ and the door has been left ajar for the Italian to move to north London.

Spurs are also being linked with a shock return for ex-boss Mauricio Pochettino, who is currently at Paris Saint-Germain.
