Nigeria's Super Eagles pick up AFCON ticket against Sierra Leone as fans call for Peseiro's sack

After the Leone Stars rallied back to wipe out Victor Osimhen’s brace, Kelechi Iheanacho scored the winner for the Super Eagles.

Prior to the encounter in Monrovia, a draw was sufficient to guarantee qualification for AFCON 2023.

Jose Peseiro’s team enjoyed a good lead for the whole of the game and was in a comfortable position to secure maximum points, but they let it slip.

However, a late Iheanacho goal allowed the Nigerians to defeat their brave opponents.

The three-time African champions picked the ticket after defeating Sierra Leone 3 -2 at the Samuel Kanyon Doe Stadium in Monrovia, Liberia, on Sunday with one game to spare.

The Super Eagles sit on top of Group A with 12 points, two points separating them from second-placed Guinea Bissau, and seven points from third-placed Sierra Leone.

Meanwhile, Nigerians have expressed their frustration with Super Eagles Head Coach Jose Peseiro.

Despite getting the win and picking up a ticket to the 2023 AFCON in Ivory Coast next year, Nigerians are not impressed with the Portuguese manager.

Nigerians believe the Super Eagles losses the quality to play better and getting Peseiro out before the AFCON is the way to go.

Heads up!
