Six players battle for NPFL March/April Player of the Month award

Six players have been nominated for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Player of the Month award for March and April, reports.

This follows a statement made on Thursday by the League Bloggers Awards (LBA), the group in charge of planning the NPFL monthly awards.

Following his victory in February, Enyimba forward Chukwuemeka Obioma received a nomination for the second time this year.

The striker maintained his dominance at the top of the scoring list and moved the Aba Elephants one step closer to a playoff spot in the NPFL Super 6.

Other players in the running for the March/April award include Obioma’s closest scoring rival Robert Mizo, as well as two of his Bayelsa United teammates Alex Oyowah and Stephen Wisdom.

Plateau United’s right winger Izuchukwu Chimezie, and Akwa United’s Cyril Olisema are the other players that complete the list.

Meanwhile, the head coach of Enyimba and assistant coach to the Super Eagles, Finidi George, is one of four candidates for the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Coach of the Month award for the months of March and April.

Bendel Insurance head coach Monday Odigie – who won the award in January and February – made the shortlist for the award for the third time this season, having led his side to an unbeaten run in seven match days, and a continued run towards a possible unbeaten season.

George bagged his second nomination following impressive wins away at Kwara United and El-Kanemi Warriors, and just one defeat in his last seven games.

Remo Stars’ Daniel Ogunmodede and Doma United’s Akinade Onigbinde are two of the other managers also nominated following their exploits with their clubs.
