Shorunmu appointed as Abia Warriors' new goalkeepers' coach

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Ike Shorunmu, has officially joined Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia as their new goalkeeper coach.

The unveiling ceremony took place at the club’s Secretariat in Umuahia, witnessed by the management team.

Shorunmu, known for his experience as a goalkeeper trainer at Enyimba and Heartland, as well as his recent role with the Super Eagles, is expected to bring his wealth of knowledge to Abia Warriors’ goalkeeping department.

Coach John Obuh expressed his confidence in Shorunmu’s abilities and believes his addition will significantly impact the team.

Shorunmu himself shared that he chose Abia Warriors based on his personal conviction and expressed optimism for the team’s success in the upcoming season.

“They need my services, and from what I saw and from my conversation with the chairman, I am so happy and I will do my best for the team. My ambition is to do good for the season. I am not making any promises, I believe in practicality on the field rather than making some noise. The job we will do with Coach Obuh will be perfect,” he said.

It will be recalled that the Abia State governor, Alex Otti recently appointed Coach Obuh who was a former national coach of the Flying Eagles to chair the Abia Warriors management team for more efficient delivery.
