Newly crowned Formula One champion Nico Rosberg, and 2014 World Cup champion, Lukas Podolski, posed with their respective titles during a photo call at Cologne airport in Germany on Wednesday.
Former Arsenal forward Podolski couldn’t resist the opportunity to post a selfie of the pair clutching their trophies.
‘Selfie of champions,’ the German midfielder posted, as he posed alongside Rosberg.
Rosberg shocked the world of motor racing last week when the 31-year-old announced his retirement last Friday – five days after winning his first world title.
Rosberg beat arch-rival and Mercedes team-mate Lewis Hamilton to the top prize with a second-place finish in the Abu Dhabi grand prix sealing victory.
‘I have climbed my mountain, I am on the peak, so this feels right,’ Rosberg announced last week.
Podolski, who spent three seasons at the Emirates between 2012 and 2015, announced his retirement from international football back in August.
The 31-year-old, who also had stints at FC Koln and Bayern Munich, is now plying his trade with Galatasaray in the Turkish Super Lig.
Podolski scored 48 goals for his country in 129 games over 12 years.
