Remo Stars made light work of the Southwest derby to defeat Shooting Stars 3-0 in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) matchday six encounter in Ikenne on Wednesday.

The Sky Blue Stars have now recorded back-to-back victories in the Southwest derby courtesy of a goal from Ahmed Akinyele and brace from Sikiru Alimi.

With about five minutes to the end of the first half, Franck Mawuena was brought down for a penalty after meeting a through ball from Jide Fatokun.

Sikiru Alimi stepped up to take the penalty as he hit the top right-hand corner to make it 2-0.

In the 63rd minute, Alimi scored his brace after meeting a dropped ball by Sodiq Ismail as Remo Stars earned the first clean sheet of the season.

The Sportsbay reports that the result took Remo Stars to 12 points from four wins and one loss in five matches, with a +4 goal difference.

As for the Shooting Stars, it is their second loss in three away outings, conceding five goals and scoring none.

It made it 10 points from three wins, one draw and two losses from six games, scoring a total of seven goals and conceding eight.

Meanwhile, resilient Kwara United came from behind to defeat Sporting Lagos 2-1 at the Kwara Stadium, Ilorin.

The visitors had the best start of the game as Jonathan Alukwu scored in the first minute to fire home his third goal of the season.

Stunned by the early goal, Kwara United mounted pressure, but goalkeeper Christian Nwoke came to the rescue of his side.

In the 45th minute, Nwoke was finally breached as the hosts through Ejeh Isaiah converted from the spot to see the first half end 1-1.

At the restart of the second half, both teams went for the deciding goal, creating goal-scoring chances.

In the 86th minute, Ifeanyi Odimmega scored the winner for the hosts, who held on to secure all three points.
