The Prudent Energy Handball Premier League 2022 Phase is expected to begin this week in Abuja, thesportsbay.com reports.
The first part of the top-tier handball premier league will take place at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja from May 22 to June 3, 2022, with teams and officials already arriving in the Federal Capital Territory to prepare.
Twenty-two teams will compete against each other – 12 teams in the male category and 10 teams in the female category – to guarantee that they are in good position in this phase and have a fighting chance in the second phase in Lagos.
The defending champions in the Male and Female Categories, Kano Pillars and Safety Babes, will hope to be the first team in the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League’s history to maintain their crowns, and they are already talking tough.
In the female category, Rima Queens of Sokoto and Benue Queens are promoted from the National Division One Handball League 2021 edition in Benin City, Edo State, while Owena Kings and Benue Buffaloes return to the top tier league in the male category.
Plateau Vipers, COAS Shooters (Male Category) and Bayelsa Queens, Confluence Queens (Female Category) were relegated from the Prudent Energy Handball Premier League 2021, respectively.
During the first part of the league, the Handball Federation of Nigeria will organize a series of seminars and trainings for officials, head coaches of the 22 clubs, invited referees, and match delegates at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja.
