The Deputy Governor of Edo State, Philip Shuaibu has urged the Super Eagles to comprehensively defeat the visiting Lone Stars of Sierra-Leone in the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying to hold on Sunday at the new Sam Ogbemudia Stadium.
Comrade Shuaibu who addressed the squad at the Eagles training ground on Tuesday said the government is working to make sure the 15,000 thousand capacity stadium can have at least 1,000 fans to come cheer the Nigerian team to victory.
”We are speaking with the authorities if it is possible to allow us have even if it 1,000 capacity. If you check it is a fifteen thousand capacity stadium. If we have 1000 capacity you will not notice any vacuum, but we are still talking with them.” Shuaibu revealed.
Shuaibu went ahead to charge the team saying ”The Eagles have never lost a match in the old Sam Ogbemudia Stadium and in this Sam Ogbemudia Stadium we all are expecting a minimum of five goals.”
The Deputy Governor who plays for Edo base club side Insurance of Benin joined in the team’s initial phase of training in preparation for the crucial qualifier.
A total number of 19 team players tare in camp as at Wednesday afternoon. They are Ahmed Musa , William Ekong, Alex Iwobi, Ola Aina, Joe Aribo, Leon Balogun, Kevin Akpoguma, Sebastin Osigwe, Zaidu Sanusi, Tyronne Ebuehi and Etebo Oghenekaro.
Others are Maduka Okoye, Ike Ezenwa, Chidozie Awaziem, Kelechi Iheanacho, Emmanuel Dennis, Chidera Ejuke, Samuel Chukwueze and Paul Onuachu.
