Didier Drogba, a Chelsea star, thinks Victor Osimhen can one day be the best striker in the world.
The Ivoirian, who scored 164 goals in 381 appearances for Chelsea and also holds the record for most goals scored by an Ivorian national team player, thinks the 23-year-old will soon realize his or her ambition.
“I like him (Osimhen) a lot,” Drogba told Marco Giordano in an interview. Great striker, he can be the best in the world and when you have the talent like he’s got, I think it’s just a question of momentum.”
Recently, in an interview, Osimhen admitted to looking up to Drogba while growing up.
“I took Drogba as my role model while I was growing up, and that has been the guiding light, ” Osimhen said at a recent interview.
Osimhen has acknowledged that watching Drogba set the standard for the Blues of Chelsea as a young player had an impact on his own game, which is why he is where he is right now.
Osimhen added: “I think watching him a lot and the kind of mentality he has in terms of football has really helped me a lot to get to where I am today.”
Despite his goals for both the Super Eagles and Napoli this past year, the 23-year-old was snubbed by the Confederation of African Football for the Men’s Player of the Year award for 2022.
