Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen is due to return to Italy on Wednesday after a one-week break from Napoli.
Osimhen had been in Nigeria for more than a week, taking care of personal affairs and recovering from a hamstring injury he had suffered in an October friendly match.
The 24-year-old has missed Napoli’s matches against Hella Verona, Union Berlin, AC Milan, and Salernitana after suffering the injury in a 2-2 draw against Saudi Arabia.
In Osimhen’s absence, Napoli have stepped up their games winning three and drawing one of the four matches played.
Italian publication Il Mattino stated that he had resolved his personal issues in Lagos and announced his return for Wednesday (tomorrow).
Upon his return, Osimhen will undergo further tests with the medical staff to assess the progress of his rehabilitation.
The objective is to have him back in action for Napoli’s match against Real Madrid on November 29 with no desire to rush him for their games before then. Osimhen’s return is highly anticipated by Napoli, as his six goals in eight games this season confirm his value to the team.
Napoli’s coach Rudi Garcia emphasized the importance of having Osimhen back ahead of their game against Salernitana, and the club eagerly awaits his return, recognizing the impact he can have on the team.
Osimhen’s progress in recovery will be closely watched, and his return will be a welcome boost for Napoli as they continue their campaign.
