NPFL: Epic showdown as Kano Pillars seek first league win as Enyimba comes visiting

Kano Pillars will today seek to earn their first win in the ongoing 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League season when Enyimba comes visiting today for the matchday 4 encounter.

Pillars have endured a horrendous start to this campaign following 2 losses and a draw so far while Enyimba have been in impressive form despite losing their last match to Rivers United.

The Sai Masu Gida have found themselves in an unfamiliar position on the league table – bottom, with two losses and a draw also failing to score in three games, a situation they will be hoping to overturn when they welcome Enyimba.

Enyimba on the other hand are on a mission to redeem themselves after suffering their first loss of the season in the hands of Rivers United at home with their former coach, Fatai Osho, orchestrating the proceedings for the visitors from the dugout.

Despite their loss, Enyimba currently hold the form advantage against their host having won five of their last six competitive games while Pillars are winless in their last three league games.

The hosts who will be hoping to grab their first points of the season will want to bank on their recent home form against their opponent.

Pillars have won their last two home meetings against Enyimba scoring four times, conceding once.

The last time Enyimba defeated Pillars away from home was in May 2016, winning 2-1, a feat they will be hoping can be repeated.

In Bauchi, MFM will seek to go back to Lagos with all the points when they play against Wikki Tourists while Rivers United will play host to Sunshine Stars in Port Harcourt.

Enugu Rangers will lock horns with Niger Tornadoes at the famed Cathedral while Plateau United welcome Heartland to Jos.

In Uyo, Dakkada FC will do everything to ensure they end Remo Stars’ clean sheets rub and improve their scoring prowess having conceded four (4) goals and have scored just two (2) this season.

Both sides have never met in the NPFL but the last time they met was in a lower league, Nigeria National League (NNL) and that was in 2016 where former players, Victor Mbaoma and Oche Salifu gave the Sky Blue Stars a 2-0 victory at the Otunba Dipo Dina Stadium in Ijebu Ode and the return fixture saw Dakkada defeat Remo Stars by 1-0 in Uyo.
