NPFL: Katsina Utd pile more miseries on ‘winless’ Kano Pillars

It is going from bad to worse as former champions, Kano Pillars are yet to record a win in the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League season following a 1-0 loss away to Katsina United in the Match Day 3 encounter at the Umaru Dikko Stadium, Katsina yesterday.

The Mai Sugida had kicked off their campaign losing 3-0 to defending champions, Akwa United before securing a barren draw against Lobi Stars last weekend.

Katsina United’s Abba Umar third minute goal was enough to pile more miseries on the visiting side who are rooted at the bottom of the table with just a point. The hosts moved up the ladder to 15th position with three points.

In Minna, Niger Tornadoes and Abia Warriors shared the spoils of war as the game ended 1-1 at the Bako Kontagora Stadium.

Martins Ursule had put the hosts in the driving seat in the 34th minute but Yakub Hammed got the all-important equalizer in the 53rd minute.

With this result, Tornadoes moved to 9th position with 4 points while Warriors also moved to 7th position with 4 points

At the conclusion of this round, Remo Stars top the table with 7 points but are ahead of Akwa United and Rivers United who are also on the same points due to a better goal difference of +5.
