NNL adopt abridged format for 2020/21 season

Nigeria’s second-tier football league, Nigeria National League (NNL) has adopted the abridged format for the 2020/2021 season with 42 clubs which will begin three weeks after the Nigeria Professional Football League has kicked off.

In a unanimous decision as contained in a communique issued after a stakeholder meeting with the newly appointed management team, the clubs will be divided into groups A1, A2, B1, B2  Northern and southern conference respectively which will be subject to its congress ratification.

According to the communique, the most important league in Nigeria will adopt strict adherence to the provisions of proper medical and insurance cover for players and officials as compulsory for all the clubs to participate in the league.

The stakeholders also enjoined the new Management to set up a standard and well-equipped media department to promote the NNL brand, the image of the league as well as ensure regular refresher training for clubs’ Media/Communication managers/directors /Officers.
