NFF President, Gusau, to inaugurate NPFL’s IMC Friday

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau will on Friday inaugurate the Interim Management Committee of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

It will be recalled that last month, the sports minister, Sunday Dare had set up the IMC that will manage the affairs of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).

The IMC will replace the League Management Committee (LMC) which was recently declared illegal by the Sunday Dare-led ministry.

The license of the LMC was also withdrawn by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) following a directive from the ministry.

In a press statement announcing the composition of the IMC, the Youth and Sports Development Ministry stated that the move was “in line with the 10-year Football Masterplan as approved by President Muhammadu Buhari towards the revitalization of the Domestic League” and that the IMC would be in place to “oversee the affairs of the League until a proper professional League Board is put in place statutorily.”

Former director general in the ministry, Gbenga Elegbeleye will serve as the chairman of the constituted body, while a veteran journalist and football administrator, Paul Bassey is named vice-chairman.

Erstwhile Enugu Rangers striker, Davidson Owumi is the head of operations, with Olumide Bamiduro named secretary.

Other members are Hon. Kunle Soname, Daniel Amokachi, Calvin Emeka Onwuka, Mallam Aliyu Adamu, Barr. Danladi Ibrahim, Mohammed Nasiru Sa’idu, Barr. Poubeni Ogun and Awalu Baba Jada.

A representative each from the Nigeria Police Force and the NFF will also be part of the committee.
