NFF warns match commissioners over wearing of foreign jerseys during games

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) had charged match commissioners to dress professionally during matches at all levels of the football league structure.

This charge was given by the chairman of the NFF Match Commissioner Committee, Alhaji Babgana Kalli during the 2023 NFF Match Commissioners seminar for Southern province held on Monday at NUT hall, Kuto, Abeokuta, Ogun State.

He said, “I will also like to remind the match commissioners that when an assignment was given to them, Please, let’s endeavour to dress properly.

“That is to dress cooperating to being match commissioner as assigned for a match. You are the head of the administration of that match. You should have full control of that match because the match is under your own control but not under the control of any state secretary.”

According to him, the football governing body in the country has expressed concern over the growing practice of wearing jerseys while officiating games

“Each match commissioner should be conscious of what of their activities and to carry the assignment assigned accordingly. The match commissioners should always look cooperate to avoid the diversity of the Committee.

“Be in your suit or in your blazer and during the technical coordination meeting, the committee will not allow any match commissioners to use foreign club jersey or Nigerian club jersey,” Alhaji Babgana said.

The Nigeria National League, (NNL) will kick off on October 28th while the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) will kick off on November 15.
