Nasarawa United have moved up to 12th position after defeating visiting Dakkada FC 1-0 in a rescheduled Match Day 25 of the ongoing 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League.
With both teams wanting to move away from the relegation zone, it was a fight to finish in Jos as they matched each other squarely.
However, in the 29th minute, all efforts by Dakkada to keep the hosts at bay was undone when Harrison Ibukun handled the ball in the box off Chinedu Ohanachom’s header.
The referee pointed to the penalty spot with Tochukwu Michael sending the Dakkada FC goalkeeper the wrong way as the first half ended 1-0.
At the restart of the second half, both sides made changes to win the game but it was not as there were no more goals till the referee blew the final whistle. Dakkada remain in 15th position with 27 points
Meanwhile, Rivers United’s Nelson Esor is confident his side will clinch the NPFL title but also thinks it is not yet time to celebrate warning that the job is not yet completed.
” I’m very happy that I came in and gave two assists. It was a nice and good game, we got the three maximum points with three goals. We played with a lot of confidence and courage playing at home.
“We’re already there leading the log with four points. We’ll keep the momentum on without slowing down the pace. Keep moving till the end of the season and I believe at the end, we’ll emerge champions.
“We don’t need to relent but to keep fighting, doing more hard work, remember they say hard work pays, so we’ll keep fighting till the end”, he told NPFL media.
