Mikel praises Osimhen's abilities but points out technical flaws

Former Super Eagles player John Mikel Obi feels compatriot Victor Osimhen would be a good match for Manchester United as he prepares to make the step up to the Premier League, but he has pointed out a weakness in Osimhen’s current ability.

The former Chelsea midfielder was speaking on Dubaieye radio when he was asked to appraise Osimhen’s readiness to move to the Premier League, either with Manchester United or Mikel’s old side, Chelsea.

Mikel, who played in the English Premier League for the Blues for 11 years, believes the Napoli striker has evolved into a terrific player who is guaranteed to score goals, as he has demonstrated this season.

Mikel was quick to not Osimhen’s impressive performances this season and also suggested that the Super Eagles Striker could be on the move to the Premier League this summer.

Speaking on the radio program, Mikel said, “When you look at Victor Osimhen, he is doing really well for Napoli, he’s playing really well. He’s going to be on the market in the summer, I think Man United are going to go for him, definitely.

Mikel, however, in his honest assessment, pointed out a flaw, noting that Osimhen was not a technically gifted player, although he was still of the belief that the Napoli forward was someone that every club would love to have.

When asked if Osimhen would be good in the Premier League, Mikel Said, “We spoke about him before. He is doing well for me. I think Victor scores goals, that’s what he does, he scores goals. Is he very technically good? Not as much, but he will get you goals for sure.

Mikel was also asked if he thought Osimhen would fit at Manchester United with the likes of Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes, and Mikel responded positively, saying, “I think so, I think he would be the perfect fit for them.

“He would be the finished article for this United team, who play some really good football now.

“They are back playing the way Manchester United should play, but they are missing that out-and-out-striker. If they could be able to go for him [Victor] and they could be able to get him, I think he would be the icing on the cake for them.”

Mikel also extolled Osimhen’s Character, saying that the Super Eagles player was also a good person in addition to being a good footballer.

When asked about Osimhen’s personality, Mikel said, “[He is a] good boy, lovely boy, very respectful, down to earth, humble. I didn’t get to play with him in the national team for such a long time, but the period that I got to play with him, he was a really nice guy.”

Osimhen has 25 goals in 29 games in all competitions this season and could be ready for a blockbuster summer move.
