An online American fitness company, Melanin Fitspiration is set to inspire a virtual fitness revolution in Nigeria according to the founders.
In an online interview with Kayla Johnson, one of the three American college students who founded the company in 2016, Melanin Fitspiration was created to encourage black people to participate more in physical fitness as well as to inspire people with melanin in their skins.
“We decided to tackle this problem by creating a page that mainly focuses on posting home workout videos that are not only home friendly seeing as they require little to no equipment but are also easy enough for anyone on a fitness journey to do.

She further said due to the coronavirus, Nigerians can keep fit in the comfort of their homes which significantly reduces the chances of contracting the dreaded corona virus as well as reducing the cost of registering in a gym.
“If we are being honest, in these hard financial times gyms and trainers are an expense we can all do without. Gym membership fees in most times can be quite expensive and @MelaninFitspiration on Instagram have been able to cut down this cost by providing exercises that will enable one to really get their muscles working. They have also helped save on time seeing as you don’t have to commute to go anywhere to get in your daily workout which translates in better management of time and being able to get more done with your day,” Kayla said.
