NPFL: Egyptian defender, Mahmoud Gamal joins Wikki Tourists

Wikki Tourist Football Club of Bauchi has signed an Egyptian defender Mahmoud Gamal to play for the next two season 2021 and 2021 in the club.

The club via an official statement on their Facebook page confirmed the signing of the 24-year old who is described as a ‘free-kick specialist’.

The club wrote: “Wikki Tourists FC made history today by signing an Egyptian national into the fold of its team from Egypt Insurance FC.

“Mahmood Gamal, a left full-back appended his signature on the club’s papers till the end of the NPFL 21/22 season.

The 24 years old Gamal was unveiled in a brief ceremony in Bauchi which he officially appended his signature to the contract papers making him a player of the club.
Gamal who is to wear jersey number 17 for the club is a defender and also a penalty taker for his former club in Egypt, Egypt Insurance before coming to Nigeria and joinWikki Tourist FC of Bauchi. Gamal had scored 8 goals through penalty in his club.

Speaking with newmen during unveiling, Mahmoud Gamal thanked the management of Wikki Tourist for interest shown on him and assured that he will contribute his professional quota to development of the club

On his part, the players manager, Philip Dosu, said that he convinced the player to join Wikki Tourist based on the interest shown by the chairman of the club in the player, adding that the club will not regret signing him as he will display his skills and also boost the fortunes of club.

In the past Nigerian clubs have signed players from across the West African countries; including Ghana, Togo, Cote d’Ivoire, Cameroon, etc.

Players from South America, particularly Brazil have also signed up at different times for Nigerian clubs but this is the first time an Egyptian player has joined a club in the NPFL.
