Defending champions, Real Madrid narrowly escaped being booted out of the UEFA Champions League by Italian giants, Juventus.
The Old Lady who were 3-0 down from the first leg in Turin got off to a dream start when Mario Mandzukic headed in from Sami Khedira’s cross after just two minutes and Mandzukic got a second before half-time.
In the usual fashion, the Whites came all out to get a goal but fell behind again when Real Madrid keeper, Keylor Navas, fumbled a routine cross and Blaise Matuidi was there to poke home and set the aggregate score at 3-3.
Both teams seemed to settle for extra time but the fate had other ideas for Juventus when Lucas Vazquez was fouled inside the box and Michael Oliver awards Real Madrid a penalty at the 93rd minute.
In the ensuing melee, legendary keeper, Gianlugi Buffon was given a red card for foul and abusive language.
Cristiano Ronaldo stepped up and scored the one goal that sees the champions through.
Meanwhile, the newly crowned Bundesliga champions, Bayern Munich played out a 0-0 draw to see off Sevilla and reach the Champions League semi-finals with a 2-1 aggregate win.
Sevilla defender Joaquin Correa, who was sent off in stoppage time, hit the bar with a header and midfielder Pablo Sarabia, who scored in the first leg, wasted a glorious first-half chance.
But Bayern top-scorer Robert Lewandowski had a header pushed over the crossbar by goalkeeper David Soria and a brilliant block from Sevilla’s Jesus Navas denied Franck Ribery.
It was the first time in 22 home Champions League matches that Bayern had failed to score.
