Designated Nigerian champions, Lobi Stars have lost to Abidjan opponents, Asec Mimosas by a lone goal during the in Total CAF Champions League on Saturday.
Lobi Stars were aiming at their second win in group A after a convincing 2-1 victory over former champions, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa in Enugu fell to Ahmed Diomande’s 38th minute goal at the Stade Felix Houphouet Boigny,
It was stated that Lobi Stars brought unnecessary pressure on themselves by breaching the rules and regulations of the Confederation of African Football for the Champions League as they travelled to Abidjan with the wrong jersey which CAF has since rejected.
It was reported that Lobi Stars contracted a former player of the club to help them sew new jerseys for the team while reporting late for training in unapproved training kits and would be fined another five thousand USA dollars.
As if that was not enough, he said the Technical Adviser of the team, Solomon Ogbeide physically assaulted one of the longest serving officials of Lobi Stars who disagreed with him on the issue of jersey.
It was also stated in the report that the camp of Lobi Stars was enveloped in the fear of ‘juju’ as the team is suspecting every action of their hosts who even offered to help them with badges to attach to their newly sewn jerseys.
“I was in the camp of Lobi Stars yesterday and can inform you that all is not well with the team.
“Would you believe Lobi Stars came to Abidjan with a wrong jersey which CAF promptly rejected?. They didn’t come with the jersey that they had submitted to CAF.
“They have asked a Nigerian resident in Abidjan to get a tailor to sew jerseys for them.
“The next problem is that they have no CAF badges to attach to the new jerseys and that will attract a fine of five thousand USA dollars.
“To make it worse the team appeared shabbily dressed for training which they attended late. CAF frowns at such breaches and Lobi will be fined five thousand US dollars,” said Daily Trust source.
