The hopes of Lobi Stars to move away from the relegation zone was dented after losing 1-0 away to titleholders, Akwa United at the Nest of Champions, Uyo during the Match Day 25 of the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League season.
Bello Babatunde scored the only goal of the game in the 31st minute to condemn Lobi Stars to its 13th league loss and are placed 16th on the table with a paltry 26 points.
This victory has lifted Akwa United to fifth place after Kwara United lost 3-0 to Enugu Rangers.
At the Cathedral, Rangers showed their superiority over Kwara United as they went 3-0 up within 18 minutes of the game.
Martins Ossy began the rout in the 4th minute with Chdiebere Nwobodo making it 2-0 in the 15th minute. Three minutes later, Martins scored his brace as the game ended 3-0 as Rangers moved into the 3rd position ahead of Remo Stars who have a date with Plateau United tomorrow.
In the last match of the day, Gombe United further inflicted more woes on Katsina United after running away with a slim 1-0 victory with the goal scored by Abdulazeez Yusuf in the 6th minute of the game.
Gombe have moved up to 8th position with 35 points while Katsina United continue to languish in the relegation zone.
