The League Management Company (LMC) have confirmed its representatives for the 2020/2021 Confederations of African Football (CAF) interclub competitions, the sportsbay.com reports.
The league which came to an abrupt end at Week 25 due to the coronavirus pandemic was eventually decided by the Points Per Game method (PPG) as no team was declared winner or relegated.
After using the PPG, Plateau United emerged top of the table with 1.96 coefficient while former African champions, Enyimba ended as the runners up with 1.80.
Rivers United are third though tied on the same coefficient with Enyimba (1.80) but LMC used Head-to-Head to decide who comes second.
Plateau United was untouched at the top of the table and will take the first slot for the Champions league.
Two-time CAF Champions League winner Enyimba will join Plateau United as the second team in flying Nigeria’s flag in the Champions league albeit in controversial manner. Rivers United and Kano Pillars will be representing the nation in CAF Confederation Cup.
Enyimba and Rivers United both tied on the same points but the head to head rule was used to judge who takes the final slot.
Following this, Plateau United and Enyimba are two clubs to represent Nigeria at the CAF Champions League while Rivers United and Kano Pillars will be representatives in the CAF Confederations Cup.
Kano Pillars are the 2018/19 AITEO Cup champions and were chosen to represent the country in the CAF Confederation Cup.
