LeBron James led the Los Angeles Lakers past the Houston Rockets with a season-high 48 points, pushing them even closer to the NBA’s all-time scoring record.
James was his team’s leading scorer in the 140-132 victory and has now scored more than 35 points in five of his last seven games.
He is 315 points short of Kareem Abdul-all-time Jabbar’s record with 38,072 career points.
Jayson Tatum led the Boston Celtics to a 130-118 victory over the Charlotte Hornets with 51 points, including two three-pointers in the closing 64 seconds.
Tatum currently has five regular-season games with 50 or more points, which is a team record.
Boston have won seven matches in a row and extended their lead at the top of the Eastern Conference.
Elsewhere, Stephen Curry finished with a game-high 41 points as Golden State Warriors beat Washington Wizards 127-118.
Memphis Grizzlies extended their winning run to 10 games with a dominant 136-106 win at Phoenix Suns, and are second in the Western Conference behind Denver Nuggets.
