Kano Pillars to return to fortress, Sani Abacha Stadium

Nigeria Professional Football League side, Kano Pillars have been granted a provisional clearance to return to Sani Abacha Stadium for their home games.

In a letter dated April 12, 2022, and signed by the Chief Operating Officer, Salihu Abubakar, the LMC granted the provisional clearance pending the commencement of replacement works on the playing turf.

Prior to the commencement of the 2021/2022 season of the Nigeria Professional Football League, the LMC had deemed the Sani Abacha stadium unfit to host league games as the artificial turf of the Stadium was in need of remodelling and has been playing their home games at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

The club management had written and informed the LMC that the Kano State government had made funds available to replace the playing turf.

“Be informed that after due consideration of your request, the League Management Company is granting Kano Pillars FC provisional clearance to temporarily return to the Sani Abacha stadium for your home matches, pending the commencement of replacement works on the playing turf.

“You are however required to immediately propose an alternate ground where you will revert your remaining home matches when the turf replacement project commences at the Sani Abacha Stadium.

“Note further that you are required to make instant improvements to the current condition to the playing turf, to make fit for purpose pending the commencement of the project,” the letter stated.
