Kano Pillars fans went berserk as they destroyed the team bus of the visiting Katsina United in the much-anticipated northern derby at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
This was the first time Pillars will be playing in the stadium after two years away and the fans who could not control themselves disrupted the match which had to be stopped for some moments before it was continued. The game finally ended 0-0.
It will be noted that Pillars had played their ‘home’ games in the last two years at the home of their visitors in Katsina
Meanwhile, Shooting Stars of Ibadan (3SC) have ended a 3-game winless run to inflict a third consecutive defeat on Lobi Stars in the Match Day 23 of the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League season.
3SC got off on a flying start as Lobi Stars’ miscued clearance from a free-kick fell kindly to Emmanuel Lucky who fired an unstoppable shot from 10 yards into the net in the third minute.
In the 18th minute, the hosts deservedly doubled their lead as Emmanuel Lucky headed home from Malomo Taofeeq’s free-kick to make it 2-0.
Just as the second half resumed, Lobi was down to 10 players as Tony Agbaji was shown a red card for a second bookable offence.
As the game wore on, Ayo Adejubu completed the rout to make it 3-0 for the hosts as the Ibadan based club moved up to 11th position with 30 points while Lobi Stars moved down to 18th position on 23 points.
In the other games, at the Nest of Champions, Dakkada FC who have had a mixed season so far defeated Heartland 2-1.
In the 28th minute, Emmanuel Ayoasi sent a beautiful cross in and Israel Emmanuel connected for the opener in the 54th minute, Aniekan Okon Ekpe doubled the lead from the penalty spot.
Heartland fought back gallantly and reduced the deficit in the 64th minute but was not enough to battle their way out of relegation.
Dakkada FC moved up to 15th position with 27 points while Heartland remain rooted in the 20th position with 21 points.
Also, Abia Warriors were unable to defeat Niger Tornadoes at home as they played out a 1-1 draw while Enugu Rangers also shared the spoils of war with Sunshine Stars in a drab 0-0 game.
Elsewhere, defending champions, Akwa United were held to a 1-1 draw by host, Gombe United just as Nasarawa United also played a 1-1 draw with Remo Stars.
Wikki Tourists were on the verge of a slim victory but visiting Kwara United refused to leave empty-handed as the game ended 1-1.
