IBB golf course host 550 golfers for 2022 Captains’ Cup

550 golfers will on Thursday slug it out in the 2022 Captains’ Cup at the IBB international golf and country club, Abuja  as part of the activities lined up to send forth the outgoing Captain, Sen Emmanuel Anosike.

In a press conference held yesterday to herald the week-long tournament, the planning committee chairman, Chief Bayo Ojo (SAN) represented by the vice-chairman, Dr Banjo Obaleye said the competition was to mark the end of Sen Anosike’s tenure as captain.

“The captain’s tenure is over and we are sending him off with the 2022 Captains’ Cup. There will be five countries such as Uganda, Rwanda, Kenya, Botswana and Ghana participating. We will be having captains of the major golf courses in the country as well,” he said.

In her own submission, the outgoing Lady Captain, MaryRose Richard-Obioha stated that the past year was most exciting as it was the first time members played gold all year round without the course being shut down.

The secretary, the Professional Golfers Association (PGA) of Nigeria, Mr Jide Bolaji said the best golfers will partake in the tournament with the winner going home with N2m

“The PGA as a body is excited as we are always looking for opportunities to develop golf in the country. We are committed to making it a successful one and we have picked the best of our professionals to be part of this tournament,” he said.
