Al-Nassr marquee signing, Cristiano Ronaldo has suggested he is done with European football and is ready to improve the status of Saudi Arabian football.
The former Real Madrid, Manchester United, Juventus and Sporting Lisbon star made this known during his unveiling on Tuesday.
“In Europe my work is done, I won everything. This is a new challenge. I had offers from Brazil, Portugal, America, Australia. But I gave my word to Al-Nassr.”
“This is not the end for me. The Saudi Arabian League is very competitive. I know people don’t know that.”
“It’s a unique contract because I am a unique player. I broke all the records and I will also do it here. Because I’m a unique player. For me, that’s normal.”
I’m not just here for football. I want to change the mentality and the way people look at football in Saudi Arabia,” he said.
He further revealed that he had options contrary to reports that no European club wanted to sign him.
“Nobody knows but I can say now that I had many opportunities in Europe, many clubs in Brazil, in Australia, in U.S. even in Portugal, many clubs tried to sign me.
“But I give credit to this club for the opportunity to develop not only the football but this amazing country. I know what I want and of course what I don’t want as well,” he said.
