Golf Development clinic to instill honest leaders for Nigeria – Wilson

The chairman, media and publicity of the 2021 Children Golf Development Clinic, Hon Dr Olubunmi Usim Wilson has stated that the two-week-long event, tagged “Future Champions of Golf” is aimed at developing honest leaders for Nigeria.

She stated this on Monday during the opening ceremony of the clinic at the IBB International Golf & Country Club.

“This is what we call ‘catch them young’. A lot of people think playing golf is unattainable. For over a decade now, we have been organizing development clinics for children. We instil in them honesty because you can’t play a game of gold without being honest. If you are dishonest, it will show when you are playing.

“We are catching them young for them to enjoy playing golf and learn etiquette so that by the time they reach the productive age, they will be one of the best leaders the country has ever produced,” she said.

“We are so happy to see the turn-up and I am glad they are having fun. We are trying to bring the younger ones together to make them our future champion of tomorrow and we have to do this to catch them young to understand the game of golf,” she said.

Over 100 children are currently participating in the development clinic.
