Ghana clash is beyond just football, says Musa

The Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa has said the crucial 2022 World Cup playoff against Ghana is beyond football.

According to Musa who is the most capped player for the national team in an interview with the Nigeria Football Federation said the game is about Nigeria vs Ghana politics, jollof rice and entertainment.

He further said that the current crop of Super Eagles are ready to erase the poor record of the Eagles against the Black Stars.

According to record books, Ghana has defeated Nigeria 25 times, drew 19 and lost 12 times in 56 meetings.

“The game is beyond football. it’s about politics, music, fashion, acting and even jollof rice. Thank God, football has brought us together once again to show who the king is. They may have a better record and that is in the past. We have a new generation of Eagles and we will break the record,” he said.

He however acknowledged that the game won’t be easy as they are ready to give their all in the two legs.

“I remember the friendly game we played against Ghana in London and it ended 0-0. It was a tough match inside and outside. We know this game won’t be easy but we have to give all we have in the first game to see what we have before we come back home,” he said.

The two West Africa heavyweights are scheduled to meet in the first leg at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday, March 25. The second leg is scheduled in Nigeria on March 29.
