Football masterplan: Dare rejects talks on ‘clash’ with NFF

The Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Sunday Dare has stated that the ministry and the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are working together to develop football in Nigeria.

He stated this on Thursday during the inauguration of the Ten-Year Football Development Masterplan Committee at the Moshood Abiola Stadium in Abuja.

While responding to journalists who asked if the absence of the NFF through the General Secretary, Dr Mohammed Sanusi will not put the ministry on a ‘war path’ with the NFF, Dare said “Those who are insinuating that the newly inaugurated Committee will work at cross purposes with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) are so far from the truth.

“NFF was duly invited and that should not be a concern. Football and the national teams belong to the federal government and I as the minister serve the pleasure the of Mr President and serve Nigerians when it comes to the sporting sector.

“Any federation work at the pleasure of Mr President. Maybe there are reasons why he wasn’t here but he is part of it. The most important is that we want to generate a document that will make football better in our country,” he stated.
