Mauritania’s Nouadhibou hold Rangers in Enugu

NPFL: Match day 16; Lobi Stars on the lead, Rivers United on the contest, as Rangers International vacates the bottom.

The match day 16 will go across Stadia in Nigeria again by 16:00 on Sunday 19th of January, 2020 as clubs continue their quest for the Nigeria Professional Football League trophy, and a place in the continent. Match day 15 saw a lot of surprises being sprung.

Sunshine Stars 2-1 victory over Abdu Maikaba’s Plateau United catapulted them to the 4th position with 25 points.

The match made it three consecutive victories for the Akure gunners, beating Jigawa Golden Stars, Wikki Tourist and Plateau United in that order.

The battle of veteran coaches of the league saw Stanley Eguma’s Rivers United walked past Gbenga Ogunbote’s Lobi Stars which tallied the two teams on 27 points on the log, with the formal coming second on goal difference and an outstanding game for the Markurdi landlords.

For the first time since Kenedy Boboye took charge at the Nest of Champions, Uyo, he lost their match at home to an astonishing Kwara United who paraded goal hungry, Alao Danbani, despite a marching order to Bada in the closing minutes of the match in one of the three away victories of the week.

Nassarawa United completed the week the following day by defeating Dakkada FC 0-3 away from home.

The new week begins with Enugu Rangers playing host to Abia Warriors, while Enyimba will be on the road to neighours, FC Ifeanyi Ubah.
