Enyimba, Rivers Utd talk tough ahead of NPFL season opener

Top Nigeria Professional Football League sides, Enyimba and Rivers United have reiterated their determination to perform credibly well ahead of the league season opener.

The head coach of Enyimba, Fatai Osho said he aims to return Enyimba to the pinnacle of both the local and continental football.

“Our target is so high in Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) likewise on the continent, we have been integrating new faces into our tactical developments and they are responding very well.

“Few tune up games played so far had shown we have the potentials going far, guys are sinking in what we preach and teach. The players know the gravity of the task ahead and they are eager to bring pride to the country,” he said.

In the same vein, the captain of Rivers United, Festus Austin said the acquisition of top players will propel the club to glory.

It will be recalled the club acquired star players like Theophilus Afelokai, Ifeanyi Anaemena, Godwin Aguda, Destiny Ashadi during the transfer window.

“Rivers United this time is a strong side and what we need is just for us to forget our names and let’s play football. Let’s think of now and not what we have achieved in the past.”

“Being with this set of players, we are going to go a long way if we work so hard. I will play my role to see how I push everybody to work positively for the team,” he said.

River United will travel to Equatorial Guinea to confront Futuro Kings FC in the CAF Confederation’s cup preliminary round 1st leg tie scheduled for 27th-29th November and the return leg in Nigeria between 4th-6th December 2020.
