Enyimba focused on defeating El-Kanemi Warriors - Yema

Enyimba FC have put their 1-0 loss to Remo Stars and have set their focus to defeating visiting El-Kanemi Warriors in the Match Day 6 of the 2022/23 abridged Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) on Sunday.

In a chat, the assistant coach, Yemi Daniel Olanrewaju said the People’s Elephants lost to Remo Stars due to a loss of concentration while defending his side’s performances so far in the season.

The Ikeene side had stunned the eight-time league champions in just 17 seconds when Samuel Anaekwe opened the scoring to condemn Enyimba to a second league loss.

“I don’t think we are doing bad either too. We have new players in the squad who are starting slowing as they blend. We will get better as the season continues. Football can be very funny.

“We lost concentration in the opening seconds and we paid dearly for it. The game became even when Remo was finding ways to increase their tally while we were looking for ways to score. Our focus now is to defeat El-Kanemi Warriors,” he declared.

Enyimba are currently third on Group A with 7 points after winning 2, drawing 1 and losing 2 games.

Meanwhile, Akwa United of Uyo will host Remo Stars Football Club at the Akwa Ibom International Stadium in Uyo.

Other clashes are Kwara United Football Club on the road taking on Plateau United at the New Jos Township Stadium, just as Shooting Stars of Ibadan will face Nasarawa FC at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Adamasingba, Ibadan.

In Group B, Doma United FC will welcome league leaders, Rivers United, at the Gombe Stadium, while high-flying Lobi Stars will travel to Minna as they face Niger Tornadoes in an away game at the Bako Kontagora Stadium.

Other fixtures in group B will be a tough challenge for the Sunshine Stars of Akure, as they host the Bayelsa United at the Ondo State Sports Complex, while bottom-placed, Wikki Tourists will welcome Enugu Rangers at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, as they seek for their first win in the season of the abridged league.
