Enyimba have ended a four-game unbeaten run to inflict the fourth defeat on Remo Stars with a 2-1 victory in the Match Day 16 of the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League season.
Enyimba started the game brightly creating chances upon chances but were missing the final cutting edge.
The People’s Elephant finally broke the deadlock in the 37th minute as former Remo star Victor Mbaoma put his side in front with a composed finish after a brilliant pass by Fatai Abdullahi.
At the restart of the second half, another former Remo Star Ekene Awazie doubled Enyimba’s lead. He finished Samuel Stone’s cut back after Remo’s playing out from the back backfired.
As the game wore on, the visitors were awarded a spot-kick after Philip Ozor tripped Ifegwu Ojukwu inside the box and Remo captain Junior Nduka stepped up and blasted home the spot-kick to make it 2-1.
Enyimba have now moved to 7th position with 24 points while Remo Stars remain 3rd with 26 points on the table.
