Chukwueze arrives Milan for medicals

Super Eagles star, Samuel Chukwueze has arrived at La Madonnina Clinic as he underwent his medicals and fitness checks before completing his transfer from Villarreal to Milan.

The 24-year-old Nigerian winger is joining the Rossoneri in a deal worth around €28m total, filling one of the two non-EU player slots in the squad. He will put pen to paper on a five-year contract and has picked the No 21 shirt.

Chukwueze will become Milan’s seventh signing of the summer transfer window, following Marco Sportiello, Luka Romero, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Tijjani Reijnders, Christian Pulisic and Noah Okafor.

This is Milan’s biggest spend in a single transfer window since the infamous summer of 2017, when the club spent – and mostly wasted – over €200m ($221m) on an array of talent after Li Yonghong had bought the club from Silvio Berlusconi.

Villarreal and Milan reached an agreement on the transfer fee last week and finalised the deal on Monday night. Chukwueze’s move to AC Milan will make him the sixth Nigerian football player to play for the club, following in the footsteps of Taye Taiwo, Nnamdi Oduamadi, Kingsley Umunegbu, Taribo West and Aliyu Datti.
