Rivers United have been paired against South Africa club side, Bloemfontein Celtic in the first round of the 2020/21 CAF Confederation Cup after the preliminary round was concluded at the weekend.
It will be recalled that Rivers United qualified for the first round after overcoming Equatorial Guinea side, Futuro Kings 2-0 on penalties as both legs ended 3-3 aggregate.

The People’s Elephant who had defeated Rahimo 1-0 in Burkina Faso in the first leg, drew 1-1 in Aba to advance to the next round of the competition on away goals.
El-Merriekh qualified for the second preliminary qualifying round after a 3-1 aggregate win over AS Otoho of Congo.
According to the continental football governing body, the first-leg matches will be played on 22 and 23 December 2020, and the second leg on 5, 6 January 2021 with the first-named teams are first-leg hosts.
