After scoring his 50th goal for Manchester United against Brentford 3-0 in their final home encounter of the season on Monday, May 2, Bruno Fernandes insisted his ambition at the club is to win trophies, not score goals.
United are set to miss out on a Champions League spot this season, as they are five points behind fourth-place Arsenal with just two games remaining, while Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both have two games in hand.
Fernandes, who has had a difficult season, said:
“It’s been a while since I’ve scored.”
“Obviously, I’m pleased, but those figures don’t matter to me.” I’d rather get numbers with trophies than with numbers.
