Arsenal urged to sign Chelsea flop Romelu Lukaku to win Premier League next season

Legendary Arsenal player Paul Merson has urged the club to sign Belgian attacker Romelu Lukaku so that Gabriel Jesus will have strong competition next season.

Arsenal blew an eight-point lead and missed the chance to win the Premier League for the first time since 2004.

The Gunners dropped points in four straight games, ending in a 4-1 loss to Manchester City at the Etihad, when it meant the most.

Before the upcoming season, Paul Merson, who is now a television analyst, discussed Arsenal’s problems and how Mikel Arteta may help the team.

He told Give Me Sport: “Ivan Toney would have suited Arsenal, but that won’t happen now because of his ban.

“Romelu Lukaku might be available. The 30-year-old is an out-and-out centre-forward. He will stay up front and back into players. That could help Arsenal.”

Lukaku will return to Chelsea at the end of the season after spending the season on loan at Serie A side, Inter Milan.

The forward has scored 13 goals in 33 appearances for Inter this season.
