Arsenal made a triumphant return to the Champions League with an impressive 4-0 victory over PSV Eindhoven at the Emirates Stadium.
The Gunners dominated the first half, with goals from Bukayo Saka, Leandro Trossard, and Gabriel Jesus within the first 38 minutes. Captain Martin Odegaard completed the rout in the second half.
With this win, Arsenal now sits at the top of Group B, while PSV finds themselves at the bottom of the group. Sevilla and Lens played out a 1-1 draw in Spain, leaving PSV in a challenging position.
Arsenal showed no signs of rust after their long absence from the competition. Despite a confident start from PSV, Saka opened the scoring just eight minutes into the game. Odegaard’s initial shot was saved, but Saka was quick to react and found the back of the net. Saka then turned provider, setting up Trossard for a brilliant goal from the edge of the area.
In the opening 25 minutes, Arsenal had several opportunities to extend their lead even further, but PSV’s goalkeeper Walter Benitez made some impressive saves. However, he couldn’t stop Jesus from scoring on the third attempt.
Overall, it was a remarkable performance from Arsenal, signaling their intent to make a strong impact in this year’s Champions League campaign.
