
Ishak Belfodil, a 31-year-old Franco-Algerian footballer, has been arrested by French police for allegedly attempting to strangle his 15-year-old sister
According to police sources, Belfodil was taken into custody after an argument with his sister, which resulted in strangulation marks on her neck. The marks did not require medical attention.
Belfodil, who has played 19 times for Algeria and scored two goals since 2013, currently plays as a forward for Qatari club Al-Gharafa.
He began his football career in the Paris Saint-Germain youth training system, but has played for 12 clubs in 13 years, including French club Lyon from 2009 to 2012, Inter Milan and Parma in Italy, Standard Liege in Belgium, and Hertha Berlin in Germany.
