Defending champions Akwa United will today at the New Jos Stadium attempt to stop Plateau United’s six-game unbeaten run in a matchday 15 Nigeria Professional Football League fixture.
The 2017 champions are one of the most in-form sides in the league having recorded five wins in their last six games with the only draw coming in their last game against Gombe United.
Plateau’s last loss came away from home in a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Wikki Tourists on January 23.
Just like Plateau, Akwa United are also unbeaten in their last six league games, recording three wins and three draws. They (Akwa) will also be banking on their good form away from home against Plateau.
Plateau’s last home win against Akwa was in 2019 in a game that ended 3-0.
Head coach of the team Ali Jolomi says they will do their best to get a good result in Jos.
“The players are well prepared and will give their best in the game.
“In our last win, some players have been given an opportunity to contribute to the team and I’m particularly happy that those who have been given the chance to play didn’t disappoint. We will continue to build on the success we have recorded so far.”
Meanwhile, some games were played yesterday (Saturday)where Heartland FC have stunned Enyimba who have had an indifferent season so far to win the Oriental Derby 1-0
