AFCON Update: 23 players hit Super Eagles Abuja camp

Twenty-three Super Eagles players at the time of writing this have arrived at the camp at the Bolton White apartments in preparation for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Cameroon.

The camp opened last week Wednesday in Abuja with no fewer than 20 players expected in camp for the start of preparation for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations tournament but only six have arrived then.

Interim coach, Austin Eguavoen has only been able to train with 14 players prior the arrivals of 9 players who have made it 23 players now.

The 33rd edition of the AFCON will hold in Cameroon from January 9 to February 6, 2022.

Goalkeepers: Francis Uzoho (AC Omonia, Cyprus); John Noble (Enyimba FC); Daniel Akpeyi (Kaizer Chiefs, South Africa); Maduka Okoye (Sparta Rotterdam, The Netherlands)
 
Defenders: Chidozie Awaziem (Alanyaspor FC, Turkey); Kenneth Omeruo (CD Leganes, Spain); Oluwasemilogo Ajayi (West Bromwich Albion, England); William Ekong (Watford FC, England); Olaoluwa Aina (Torino FC, Italy); Zaidu Sanusi (FC Porto, Portugal); Olisa Ndah (Orlando Pirates, South Africa)

The team will depart for Garoua, Cameroon on January 5, six days before their opening group game against seven-time champions Egypt.
