NPFL21: Adamawa Utd secure first league victory since Feb 2020

Reprieve has come the way of the coaching crew of Adamawa United after securing a 1-0 victory over Lobi Stars in the Match Day 12 of the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Prior to this game at the Pantami Stadium, Gombe, Adamawa Utd had remained the only team in the league without a win after 11 games.

It is also their first win in the NPFL since February 2020 thus ending a run of 15 winless matches.

Substitute Stanley Nnanna broke the deadlock in Gombe in the 78th minute after tapping home from a close range with an assist from Sadiq Lawan.

It was a disappointing result for Lobi Stars who have only won a game in February and sought to end the month with a victory.

Though Adamawa Utd remain bottom of the table, they have now moved to within seven points of safety on 6 points while Lobi dropped down 10th position on 16 points.

Meanwhile, Heartland Fc also defeated visiting Dakkada FC 2-1 to move to 8th position at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri.

Emmanuel Adachi and Kingsley Maduforo secured all maximum points for Heartland with Kokoette Udo scoring for his side who dropped down to 15th position on the table.

In the same vein, Katsina Utd and MFM FC shared the spoils of war as the game ended 0-0.

Katsina Utd moved up to 16th position on 14 points while MFM also moved 14th position also tied on 14 points.

Meanwhile, action resumes on Saturday when Abia Warriors will welcome Wikki Tourist while Dakkada FC will seek to get back to winning ways against Kano Pillars.

Akwa United will host a vengeful Rivers United while Enugu Rangers will trade tackles with Heartland FC at the Cathedral.

Plateau United will seek to defend their title when they visit IfeanyiUbah while Jigawa Golden Stars will battle against the superior firepower of Enyimba.

Warri Wolves will seek to defeat Kwara United when they take a trip to Ilorin while Lobi Stars will seek redemption against visiting Katsina United.

MFM FC will pray their way to victory over a resurgent Nasarawa United while Adamawa United will look to secure a second league victory over Sunshine Stars in Akure.
