AC Milan signs Spanish Fernando Torres on a permanent deal

Chelsea and AC Milan have reached an agreement over the permanent deal of striker Fernando Torres, who is currently on loan at the San Siro side.

The off-form Spanish striker, who was bought from Liverpool in a deal worth over £50m, has been on loan with the Italian side but has also been linked with a move to his boyhood club, Atletico Madrid in the next month’s transfer window.

Both Chelsea and Milan confirmed on Saturday that an agreement has been reached to make the 30-year-old’s move to Italy permanent, with the transfer set to be completed on January 5.

However, it remains to be seen whether Torres will then secure a switch back to La Liga, with Italy international Alessio Cerci believed to be heading in the other direction as part of the deal.
