Abuja expectant ahead of 5Stars Premier League return

There is excitement in the air ahead of the return of the fourth edition of Abuja’s foremost futsal competition 5Stars Premier League.

The grassroots football is scheduled to kick off on June 11, 2022, and climax on October 1, 2022.

The 18-week long league will see 32 teams with the defending champions SuicideJubril awaiting a tougher challenge to their crown in the expanded inter-regional campaign.

According to its managing director, Olumide Aturu, the tournament is having talks with popular broadcasting company SuperSportsTv showcasing matchday highlights on its Naija Made Show as well as fast-rising media company Trust TV for matchday coverage.

He also said he is in talks with last year’s edition sponsors, MerryBet for a lengthy agreement for the upcoming season with potential partners also on standby.

“This year’s edition will definitely be better than previous editions. Last year was codenamed ‘The End Game’ and this year is ‘The Reboot’. We are in talks with SuperSports who will show the highlights of the games on their shows.

“Last year’s sponsors, MerryBet are also on board and we want to lock down a longer deal with them.

“We have other sponsors we are looking at and in due time, we will unveil them. We are also in talks with Trust TV and we look forward to a fruitful discussion where our games will be broadcasted,” he said.
